Gloucester

A Gloucestershire district and city, in England's South West, of which the county town it is, is Gloucester (/ˈɡlɒstər/). The county town of Gloucestershire and is the 53rd largest settlement in the United Kingdom by population is Gloucester. The location of Gloucester City A.F.C. from 1964-1986 and a short lived greyhound racing stadium, was Horton Road Stadium. Including Gloucester's Church of St Mary de Lode near the Cathedral and the Church of St Mary de Crypt that is Norman, in Southgate Street, Gloucester, it also has some very early churches.

Linked via the Sharpness and Gloucester, a port which runs to the Severn Estuary from Gloucester, allowing ships that are larger to reach the docks than would be possible on the tidal reaches of the river itself, which go well north of the city to Haw Bridge, is Gloucester. Additionally, located in the Custom House is the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum.

Opened in September 1974 on the Eastgate Street and Bruton Way corner, and (as "GL1") was rebranded and redeveloped in August 2002, was Gloucester Leisure Centre. A tower of concrete that is brown which at the (now relocated to a location near Llanthony Bridge) College of Arts and Technology at Gloucestershire housed classrooms, is in Brunswick Road.

Held every third year in Gloucester, the other venues being Worcester and Hereford, is the Three Choirs Festival, one of the oldest music festivals in the British Isles originating in the 18th century. The ground of Gloucester Rugby, one of Europe's rugby union clubs that is top and a member of the Aviva Premiership, is Kingsholm Stadium, founded in 1873.
